New rules for DBS checks – a summary of changes

The Crime and Policing Act 2026 has significantly expanded eligibility for Enhanced DBS checks, particularly for self-employed individuals and those in supervised roles.

Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (CLOtC) has worked with the Head of Policy at DBS to produce a summary of the different types of roles within the Learning Outside the Classroom sector (e.g. providers, learning teams, volunteers, coaches) and their eligibility for DBS checks.

Verify providers’ accreditations on Kaddi

Kaddi.com now features provider accreditations and memberships directly on their listing pages, making it easier for schools to see where educational visits providers have achieved appropriate and relevant awards.

Accreditations such as AALA licences, AAIAC Adventuremark and LOtC Quality Badge give schools and parents confidence in the quality and safety of educational visits providers.

All accreditation and membership submissions are reviewed and verified by the Kaddi team before being published on the website, bringing this information into one central place for the first time.

Summer term training dates available

If you are looking to complete or revalidate your EVC training before the summer, we have added more places on our live, online training courses. Live sessions run every week, led by our experienced Educational Visits Advisers. These are small group, interactive sessions where you can learn and share with others in your role.

Revalidation courses are also available for EVCs who have trained in the last 3 years. These courses include opportunities to build on your own experience and develop your practice.
