Latest Guidance updates

In March 2026, OEAP National Guidance updated 40 guidance documents including adding seventeen new Welsh translations of guidance. Key updates to note:

3.2a Underpinning Legal Framework and Duty of Care: added to the reasonably practicable section with reference to updated HSE guidance.
4.4i Special Educational Needs and Disabilities: related to the cost of reasonable adjustments and funding for these.
7.1d Trampoline Parks (see below)
7.1r Overseas Visits: Added new information on dual citizenship and Portugal entry requirements.
8.1f Activities Requiring Employer Approval: Option for recurring activities to be submitted for approval with a list of examples.

OEAP NATIONAL GUIDANCE UPDATES

Spotlight on 7.1d Trampoline Parks

OEAP National Guidance 7.1d Trampoline Parks has been updated following the closure of The Active Indoor Leisure Association (TAILA). TAILA's inspection and assessment framework was previously recognised as a pathway to getting the LOtC Quality Badge. Without TAILA, trampoline parks can no longer achieve the LOtC Quality Badge. OEAP National Guidance has been updated to reflect this change.

You should undertake your own due diligence and risk assessments when visiting a trampoline park. Speak to your Educational Visits Adviser for support.

MOANA scheme extended to Calais for school groups

The MOANA scheme for border control between Port of Dover and France has now been introduced at Calais for school groups. This will help to ease delays on crossings between France and England.

Under the scheme, eligible school groups that have used the MOANA process from Dover can now use this from Calais for their return travel. Read more

Updated opportunities in Funding Finder

The Henry Smith Foundation - Holiday Grants Programme latest round of grant applications has opened.

For trips taking place between 1 May and 30 September 2026, the application deadline is 19 August 2026. For trips between 1 October and 31 December 2026, applications open on 20 August and close on 19 November 2026. Applications need to be received at least 6 weeks before the visits.

Grants of £500 to £3,000 are available. The programme provides one-off funding for schools to support recreational day trips or short residential trips for children aged 13 and under. Find out more here
