The Great British School Trip

School trips build self-esteem and self-confidence, offering new experiences that help young people look beyond the classroom.

However, rising costs are making it more difficult than ever to facilitate these experiences.

That’s why Hyundai are launching the Great British School Trip.

Offering 25,000 young people who need support the most with bursaries and free access to hundreds of incredible trip experiences across the UK in 2023.

A Pedagogy of Play: Supporting playful learning in classrooms and schools

Play is at the heart of childhood. Through play, children learn how to collaborate, how to negotiate rules and relationships, and how to imagine and create. They learn to find and solve problems, think flexibly and critically, and communicate effectively. This book, written by researchers at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, draws on cross-cultural, empirical research to explore what it means to embrace play as a core part of learning in school. The authors address three questions: Why do educators need a pedagogy of play? What does playful learning in schools look and feel like? and How can educators promote playful learning?

CAAPS - Curriculum Adventurous Activities for Primary Schools

The UK government believes that outdoor and adventurous activity challenges are important for children's education. These activities provide a unique contribution to the curriculum and can help develop personal and social skills. While activities like rock climbing and canoeing can be challenging and exciting, they are often just one-off experiences. To fully benefit from outdoor activities, a program should be embedded in the PE scheme of work, and schools do not need specialist resources or off-site facilities. To support non-specialist teachers, a framework called Curriculum Adventurous Activities for Primary Schools (CAAPS) has been developed. CAAPS is flexible and easy to deliver, with 30 adaptable lessons across four units that can be easily adapted to suit the needs of individuals and groups. These activities can help children learn and develop personal and social skills, while having fun.
