Immersive EVC & Snowsport Visit Leader Training (Italy)

This is a unique opportunity to take part in EVC and Snowsport Visit Leader training during a heavily subsidised immersive experience at Pila Ski Resort in the Italian Aosta Valley.

You will gain two certificates (Snowsport Visits Training & EVC Training) – valued at £260 – as well as an immersive experience, living, breathing and experiencing an overseas adventurous activity residential visit. 

This event is suitable for Visit Leaders or EVCs who plan and manage overseas visits. You do not have to be a proficient skier or snowboarder, all abilities welcome. Even if you do not plan snowsports visits (yet!), the immersive experience will give you transferable skills for any overseas visit.

DELIVERY METHOD:

This three-part course is delivered by EVOLVE Advice with expert support from Interski.

Part 1: This is EVOLVE Advice’s self-guided e-learning for EVC and Snowsport Visits. (You will gain access immediately).

Part 2 - 3rd March 2025 - 09:30-12:30: Live zoom session covering some key subjects and theory areas. 

Part 3: A 3-day, 2-night facilitated training delivered by EVOLVE Advice Educational Visits Advisers and hosted by Interski. This will be an interactive event. You will take a flight to Italy, where you’ll be collected by Interski and meet the Advisers at the resort. Learning includes practical scenarios, classroom sessions and discussions, all whilst being immersed in an overseas residential trip. Learn to ski/snowboard or take some time to experience the mountain environment.

CERTIFICATION:

Participants will receive 2 certificates on completion:

COURSE RATIONALE:

This training course will cover aspects of the law and good practice related to educational visits, risk assessment of visits and the administrative requirements associated with off-site educational activities as recommended by the Department for Education. 

It will also engage the delegates in meaningful discussion in an immersive environment with peers and experienced EVOLVE Advice Advisers.

The course will enable you to plan and manage your school’s educational visits and off-site activities in line with National Guidance and current good practice, and thus help you fulfil your Health & Safety obligations.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This course is aimed at new and existing EVCs and Visit Leaders in all schools (Maintained, Independent Schools, Foundation Schools, and Academies) in England and Wales where the employer has agreed that this is suitable.

Please note this course is not aimed at FE and HE settings, but aspects are transferrable.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Enhanced knowledge and understanding about the effective supervision of young people taking part in off-site activities and visits in general, and in snowsports activities and visits specifically.

  • Greater confidence and ability to act as the Educational Visits Coordinator.

  • Increased competence in risk assessing and managing risks on off-site visits in general, and in snowsports activities and visits specifically.

  • A real and practical understanding of the role of a visit leader and what an EVC should check.


COURSE CONTENT:

This course aims to equip you with the key requirements of a competent Educational Visit Coordinator. The course outlines key considerations in planning an educational visit, updating you with current good practice in the supervision of young people.

The course provides training in strategies used for risk management and risk assessment off-site and will include theory and practical sessions on:

  1. Planning

  2. Risk management

  3. Competence

  4. Supervision

  5. Guidance

  6. Best Practice

  7. Legal issues

Related to Snowsport Visits, you will also cover:

  • Benefits and perceived barriers of snowsport visits;

  • Planning, leading and evaluating snowsport activities and visits;

  • Group management;

  • Risk assessment training;

  • What ifs and scenarios;

  • Policy compliance.

This course does not cover leading, instructing or guiding skiing/snowboarding. Staff looking to lead, instruct or guide should be appropriately qualified and may be interested in Snowsport England's Alpine Ski Course Leader Award (ASCL).

What is included?

  • 3 nights’ half-board hotel accommodation

  • Flights (We will advise the best flights to get - Flights from Stanstead to Turin)

  • Goggles, Sunglasses, Suncream, Gloves and baselayers.

  • Drinks (other than soft drinks/water with meals)

  • Snowboard/Ski Lessons - these can be arranged at a cost

£344 pp + VAT @ 20% based on sharing a twin room

£434 pp + VAT @ 20% for a single room
