Wild Weekend at The Bioasis supported by EVOLVE Advice
A restorative retreat for Visit Leaders and EVCs
Staff organising educational visits spend a lot of time enabling others to experience learning beyond the classroom, managing safety, responsibility and learning, often with little space to pause themselves.
This Teacher Retreat offers something different.
Hosted by The Bioasis in the South West of England, and supported by EVOLVE Advice Educational Visits Advisers, the weekend is designed specifically for staff with responsibility for educational visits and outdoor learning. It’s a chance to step away from day-to-day demands, reconnect with nature, and spend time with others who understand the realities of your role.
This is not a conference or a training course. It is time and space to reflect, restore your energy and return with renewed confidence and perspective.

Get back to nature
Who this Wild Weekend is for
This retreat is particularly suited to:
Educational Visits Coordinators (EVCs)
Visit Leaders
Teachers and school leaders with responsibility for outdoor learning and educational visits
People who want time to reflect on practice, not just process
If you have responsibility for enabling safe, meaningful experiences beyond the classroom, but rarely get the chance to step back yourself, this weekend is for you.

Why EVOLVE Advice is supporting this event
EVOLVE Advice exists to support staff in schools with the skills and confidence to deliver safe and memorable educational visits. For this retreat, EVOLVE Advice Educational Visits Advisers will be attending to support teachers throughout the weekend. This is not formal training, it’s an opportunity for:
Informal conversations with experienced advisers
Space to explore questions that don’t fit neatly into guidance documents
Reflection on visits leadership in a relaxed, non-pressured setting
Professional reassurance alongside personal renewal
Our involvement reflects a shared belief with The Bioasis that effective educational visits leadership is strengthened by reflection, connection, and time in nature.
Time for you
Step away from the day-to-day and return to school with a renewed sense of purpose.
The value of stepping into nature
The Bioasis is an educational visits provider rooted in nature connection and environmental stewardship. The setting itself is at the very heart of the experience. Time spent immersed in nature offers more than fresh air:
It restores perspective
Supports clearer thinking and decision-making
Reconnects us with the purpose behind outdoor learning
Reinforces the importance of caring for the natural environment in a changing climate
This retreat invites you to experience the benefits of nature personally, while also learning what The Bioasis offers young people visiting on educational visits.

A shared space with others who understand your role
One of the most valuable aspects of this weekend is the opportunity to spend time with others in similar positions. Across the weekend there will be space for:
Conversation and shared reflection
Exchanging experiences and insights
Learning through discussion rather than presentations
Quiet moments as well as connection
This is the second Teacher retreat held at The Bioasis – teachers attending the last weekend found that simply being with others who “get it” was restorative in itself.
What this retreat is (and what it isn’t)
This retreat is:
Reflective and restorative
Professionally relevant
Grounded in nature
Supportive and informal
It isn’t:
A conference
A compliance exercise
A checklist or accreditation
A programme packed with presentations
This is an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with purpose, and return to your role with fresh perspective.

We love getting feedback on our training – we always read it and share it with our trainers, and use it to help shape the development of our courses – so keep it coming!
